Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process may be a 'good hurt' , yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
There are a few appropriate places that most massage therapists neglect to massage. Among those places, is the face. Our face holds so much tension. In this massage, I focus on the face and scalp. For the face I hold points and massage the muscles of the face. As I massage the scalp, I hold points on the skull to sooth the existing tension.
* I constantly clean my hands but I can wear gloves if that’s what you prefer
Swedish is the most well-known massage, typically used in spa like settings. Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines lotion with various strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Have you been diagnosed with TMJ Syndrome? Do you have pain in your mouth or jaw but the dentist can't find the source? Are you constantly chewing on a straw or sucking on ice? Most people are unaware that the inside of their mouths can be massaged. We are constantly clenching our teeth and doing activities with our mouths (eating, drinking, talking). The muscles inside of our mouth are in need of more care than just brushing our teeth and flossing.
Dentists are trained to specialize in teeth, not muscles of the mouth. I have received inner mouth work and there was an immediate difference. My mouth felt less tight, more movable, and I couldn't stop smiling. For once, I was unable to hide my smile.
